Knit your own Aran Sweater from our unique 100% wool

Thousands of women all over the world have taken up the hobby of knitting.
We are now offering you the opportunity to take your knitting skills a step further and explore the achievement of mastering the Traditional Irish Aran.

In our Aran Patterns we give you a detailed glossary so that you can master the different stitches before launching in to the full sweater. This is much easier than following row by row. You can then follow the pattern design from the row below and save yourself the stress of having to read every row. Once the Irish knitter has set up the first row she does not look at the pattern until she reaches the armhole shaping. Enjoy the challenge of knitting the Traditional Irish sweater.

There is a pattern to suit everyone from beginner level to the advanced knitter with the correct amount of yarn is in every kit.
Unsure of mastering a large sweater? Why not try out your skill on a hat or scarf. Believe me - once you start knitting the Aran designs “plain” knitting becomes boring! These kits range from the simple to the advanced in terms of difficulty.
You can knit something small enough for the new born baby or large enough for the extra large man.

If you need help with the concept of Irish Aran Knitting you should join the Irish Knitting Club – www.EireKnits.com This tutorial guides you through the twists and turns of cables, diamonds, honeycombs and blackberries etc that are part of the Irish Tradition. If you do not feel that you have the time to knit a large sweater why not let an Irish knitter make it for you while you knit the matching hat and scarf. Go to www.IrishArans.com and choose your sweater.

For those who like to knit in coloured wool our sweaters look lovely in the Aran Tweed range of Donegal Yarns. We offer a range of 8 beautiful colours all with flecks to give the Donegal Tweedy look.

100% machine washable Merino Wool

merino woolFor our babies and children’s sweaters we use machine washable Merino. Washing instructions come with every kit. This yarn is in the natural white colour and in baby pink. This quality is exclusive to Irish Knitting Kits.
The yarn is knitted double and comes ready wound for you.

Buttons

Buttons are supplied (including a spare ) with each kit. We use the imitation leather “football” style that is traditionally used on Irish sweaters. We do not recommend real leather as these have to be removed for washing, otherwise they would lose shape and colour.

Knitting Needles

We do not supply needles with the kits as knitters usually have their own favourite style – some use straight needles and some use round needles.
For all sweaters number 4mm and 5mm (US sizes 6 and 8 ) are needed.

With orders of over €40 ($55) value we will send you a free Knitting Bag.
Our knitting bag is made of jute in green and beige to remind you of Ireland and the wooden handles make for easy carrying. The wide base lets it stand beside you to hold your yarn.
